Become an Intern

Students, Recent Grads, Artists, & Creatives of all ages & experience levels are welcome to apply for internship an at The Print Shop LA in exchange for 24/hr access to our facilities, materials and personal project assistance.

Internships for college credit are available upon request.

CREATing OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISTS

Gain hands on experience in publication, fine art printing, teaching, maintaining a community art space and exhibition experience.

Internship terms generally last “one semester” in length but are judged on a case by case basis with a minimum of 3 weeks (summer only) and max of 6 months.

INVESTIGATE HOW PRINTMAKING CAN WORK BEST FOR you

All while learning the various aspects and tasks involved in maintaining a community printing studio.

Interns train with our team of in house Printers and Artists in Residence. This also includes general maintenance of the shop, open studio monitoring, assisting with marketing, events, and exhibitions.

CHOOSE A PERSONAL AND STUDIO BETTERMENT PROJECT TO COMPLETE DURING your TERM

Interns are expected to complete at least one Personal Project which aims to build your portfolio and develop printmaking capabilities using our shop resources. This can also include planning an exhibition, fundraising or community event . Interns expand our resources in a Studio Betterment Project-make their own positive contribution to the function of our studio.

Print Shop LA is a Queer & Trans owned art space founded by Mich Miller (they/he). Interns must be familiar and comfortable working with the LGBTQ+ community and respect respectful of gender identities, people of all backgrounds, as well as align with our ideals as a shop. This internship is open to all creatives of all backgrounds. You do not to be a former or current student to become a PSLA intern.

PSLA internships require 2 consistent shifts per week plus one event per month, which take place in person at our studio studio in mid city.

Shifts are 4 or 5 hours long, and generally between 10-3, 11-4pm or 4-8pm.

The Print Shop LA internships are in exchange for college credit and or full keyholding membership, which includes 24/hr access to our facilities, in house materials and more during their term.
