The Print Shop LA-Internship Program-Description

The Print Shop LA College Internship Program creates opportunities for artists to gain hands on publication, fine art printmaking, and exhibition experience. Internship terms vary based on the needs of an individual, with a minimum of 3 weeks and up to 6 months. Interns investigate how printmaking can work best for them, while simultaneously learning the various asepects and tasks involved in maintaining a community printmaking studio. Interns assist with daily maintenance of the print shop and equipment, included but not limited to cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, oiling presses, reclaiming silkscreens and assisting Artists-In-Residence. Depending on the skill sets and interests of an intern, tasks involve print assisting resident printmaking artists Press Friends, Heavy Gel, Crust Media & Michelle Miller Print on publication projects, installing exhibitions and administrative + marketing tasks. Interns choose a personal and studio betterment project to complete during their term. Personal projects aim to build an interns portfolio and develop their printmaking capabilities. Studio betterment projects goal should contribute positively to the maintenance, longevity and function of The Print Shop LA.

The Print Shop LA internships are unpaid, but receive keyholdership, 24/hr access to our facilities and in house materials during their term.
